TATI AU MIEL (MXC/ MTL)
Tati’s work explores freedom, desire and the emancipatory potential of sound and its relation to the artist’s own identity as a queer, gender fluid Haitian-Canadian. They create evocative experimental sound pieces and playful relation to heavy sounds; referencing industrial, punk, noise, ambient and techno, as well as continuing a legacy of speculative experimentation in black electronic music.
SOFTCHAOS (BCN)
is the pseudonym of Teresa Stout, American dj, multidisciplinary artist, and writer specialized in research-based visual and sound art.
With brutal frankness and sincerity, softchaos’ selections aim to disrupt codification, break binaries and instead propose methods that incorporate intention, sensitivity and a hint of mischievousness.
softchaos is renowned for their eclectic sound and their experimental sets are watermarked by their melodic pairing of hard high-energy, groove-driven music along with aggressive percussive tracks and far-reaching techno, weaving genres meticulously in acts of reclamation and highlighting the sounds of their culture.
They have performed globally at various institutions including Primavera Sound, Keep Hush, Les Ardentes, Nitsa, Le Hasard Ludique, Paragon Broadway, Corsica Studios, Razzmatazz, and Feria ARCO among others.
Often exploring cultural tradition and resistance, they use a diverse set of means to engage these issues; sound, performance, archival research, nightlife, and visual work – with the lines between forms often fluid.
They are a co-member of the Barcelona-based arts collective, TORO and an inaugural resident of Oroko Radio where they host Black Rhizome, a show that platforms multidisciplinary artists across diaspora. Respecting the past, breaking the now and speculating futures is central to their work.
